Installing/Uninstalling the Software  
System Requirements  
System requirements for this software program is as follow.  
PC/AT compatible computer with a USB port and able to output a resolution of 800 x 600.  
(CD-ROM drive required for software installation.)  
Computer  
OS  
Windows XP SP3 (32-bit or 64-bit version), Windows Vista (32-bit or 64-bit version), Windows 7  
(32-bit or 64-bit version)  
CPU  
Pentium III processor 800 MHz or faster  
Memory  
At least 2 GB (at least 256 MB for Windows XP)  
At least 80 MB (free space separately required for data storage)  
Free space on hard drive  
If .Net Framework 2.0 is not installed, an additional 280 MB is necessary.  
Installing the Software  
If .Net Framework 2.0 or later is not installed on your computer, work in an environment where you can connect to the Internet.  
You will need to connect to the Internet to install .Net Framework.  
1. Exit all running software applications.  
2. Insert the supplied CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of the computer.  
3. Double-click the setup program.  
\Usb\eng\setup.exe  
(When Windows XP 64-bit operating system is used: \Usb\eng\usbFlashDriveMediaToolInstaller.msi)  
4. For the remainder of the procedure, follow the instructions shown on the screen.  
• When the “User Account Control” dialog box appears, click “Yes” (or “Allow”).  
• When a security warning screen (The publisher could not be verified.) appears, click “Allow”.  
This completes the installation process.  
When installation is finished, the “USB Flash Drive Media Tool” shortcut icon (  
) will be created on the desktop.  
Uninstalling  
1. Exit all running software applications.  
2. Click the “Start” button and select “Control Panel”.  
3. Click “Uninstall a program”.  
• If you are using icon view (Classic View), click “Programs and Features”.  
• When Windows XP is used, click “Add or Remove Programs”. (In the classic view, double-click “Add or Remove  
Programs”.)  
4. Select “USB Flash Drive Media Tool” and click “Uninstall”.  
When Windows XP is used, click “Remove”.  
5. For the remainder of the procedure, follow the instructions shown on the screen.  
When the “User Account Control” dialog box appears, click “Yes” (or “Continue”).  
This completes the uninstallation process.

Using the USB Flash Drive Media Tool  
5. Sort the files into the order that you want them to play.  
Caution  
• The slideshow plays in order from the top.  
• Do not use a USB flash drive containing slideshow files for  
any other purpose.  
• Before using this software, back up the files on the USB  
flash drive.  
• For information on handling a USB flash drive, see the  
manufacturers manual for the USB flash drive.  
• Up to 600 files can be handled in the slideshow folder.  
• “Classify files into Image, Audio or others” can be  
selected in the Sort menu to sort the displayed files by  
type (image/audio/other).  
To delete a file, select the file and then select “Delete  
selected file” from the Edit menu, or press the [Delete]  
key on your keyboard.  
To display the contents of a file, select the file and then  
select “Enable Preview” from the Setting menu.  
Preparing a new USB flash drive  
Store the files you want to play in a slideshow in a USB flash  
drive.  
1. Connect the USB flash drive to your computer.

2. Start this software.  
Double-click the “USB Flash Drive Media Tool” shortcut  
icon (  
) on your desktop.  
3. Select “Create a new USB slideshow.” and click “OK”.

“Move selected file up”

Moves the selected file up or down.  
4. Drag and drop the files that you want to add from the  
“Sort by file name (ascending)”  
“Sort by file name (descending)”  
Explorer window.  
Sorts the displayed files by name in ascending or  
descending order.  
(3) Shows files of the selected type normally and grays  
out all other files.  
All files .........All files  
Image files ...jpg (jpeg), png  
Audio files ....mp3, wma  
Other files ....Other than the above image/audio files.  
(4) Shows the number of files in the folder and the total  
data size.  
6. Click  
“Write to USB Flash Drive”.  
The files is written to the USB flash drive.  
7. Select the drive and folder where you want to save  
files, and click “Select”.  
To refresh the information, click “Refresh”.  
The files are saved to the USB flash drive. When finished,  
a message appears. Click “OK”.  
8. Select “Exit” from the File menu.  
9. Remove the USB flash drive.

Using the USB Flash Drive Media Tool  
Editing a USB flash drive  
You can change the playback order of the files in the USB  
flash drive. You can also add files.  
1. Connect the USB flash drive to your computer.  
2. Start this software.  
Double-click the “USB Flash Drive Media Tool” shortcut  
icon (  
) on your desktop.  
3. Select “Edit a USB slideshow.” and click “OK”.  
4. Select the drive and folder that you want to edit, and  
click “Select”.  
To refresh the information, click “Refresh”.  
5. Sort the files into the order that you want them to play.  
• For details, see step 5 of “Preparing a new USB flash  
drive” (page 4).  
• Files can be added by drag and drop.  
6. Click  
“Write to USB Flash Drive”.  
A confirmation screen appears. Click “OK”.  
The files are saved to the USB flash drive. When finished,  
a message appears. Click “OK”.  
7. Select “Exit” from the File menu.  
8. Remove the USB flash drive.
